Patrol reports that survive everything
Your transmitted sightings now live in a durable local evidence store that survives quits, restarts and a completely full archive, verified in the native build.
When your boat surfaces with cargo in the open and the patrol starts chasing, that sighting is now a record, not a moment. Transmitting it writes an entry into a local evidence store, and the current candidate build has been put through the wringer to prove the store keeps what you saw.
What a report actually contains
Each report records one real pursuit: the moment the patrol gained actual surface visibility of your exposed cargo. With the transponder off you get an unidentified vessel; with it on the same sighting carries your hull identifier, and an earlier anonymous sighting is never rewritten later. Reports are filed per port, so a contact reported at Port Sombra is not disclosed on the Cayo Norte board.
Surviving the worst day
The verification was adversarial by design:
- Fill the archive to its hard cap of 16,384 receipts and transmit one more report: the overflow is retained as a single pending report, survives a full quit and restart, and is committed exactly once. Nothing is silently evicted.
- Corrupt the store by hand: a damaged header, an oversized database and a journal from a future version are all refused with byte-exact copies of the originals preserved.
- Force a real SQLite storage-full failure in the middle of a commit: the published report survived the failure and committed exactly once after reopening. No duplication, no loss.
- Reopen and restore the maximum-size store: the whole graph validates in about 3.2 seconds, and bounded region queries stayed flat around 1.5ms from empty to full.
The visible pass covered the report screen and reload, the harbor smoke suite and the Express hull, and an independent audit re-read the raw saves and records outside the game and confirmed them.
What this is not yet
This is the local single-player evidence layer. Archive reclamation, sharing reports between players and consequences that hinge on report history are still ahead, and this verified candidate has not been staged as the launcher yet. The staged prototype remains the standing release.
